The most successful maple Gibson that I've played! The deep body of the NL, at least on this one, is particularly successful with maple. With the mahogany and rosewood NLs the deeper body can sometimes detract from the focus and responsiveness, whereas the punchy maple-ness gets deepened and rounded out with the deeper body. There's a subtle archtop-ness from the maple, with much richness, fatness, and great sustain.
This guitar has an unusually dark sunburst, possibly by special order, that is sultry and sexy, the 14-fret neck is an example of the best of Gibson's V necks. The "Made in USA" stamp and the #2301 indicate that it was made for export.
Condition is beautiful and original, the only issue that we can find is the repaired hairline crack in the back near the heel, with local overspray. Setup is great, with nice low action, although it gets a bit high from frets 16 to 19.
