A whole new dimension for us, and a plan that started forty years ago, this newest of Schoenberg models has a fully hand-carved maple back with a flat top. We started with the Quartet and added the carved back, with this second one using an Adirondack spruce top to add a pinch of punch. It's a very light construction, by our fabulous builder, Robert Anderson of Victoria BC, beautifully carved, with a gorgeous light french polish finish, twelve-frets to-the-body with a cutaway. From the designer's point-of-view it is a combination of very traditional concepts, combined in a completely new way. The resulting tone is surprisingly sweet and musical, with a gorgeous treble voice and deep and rich low end.
