Product Description
The first iteration of Schoenberg Guitars was a combined project between Schoenberg Guitars and Martin. The guitars were put together at the Martin factory while Schoenberg added the luthier's special processes. This Soloist was done when the Schoenberg luthier was TJ Thompson, who is now recognized as the premier builder and repair person of vintage style instruments, and who's guitars sell for up to $80K these days.
Schoenberg's first model was the Soloist, a pure OM, with all that made the original OMs a near perfect instrument and adding newer touches like the cutaway, hand-picked woods, neck shape, the individual luthier attention. Thus these attributes all apply to this guitar. It's in fine shape and has an added unusual smoky rose colored pickguard that is lovely. Woods are East Indian rosewood and spruce, string spacing is traditional OM, 1 ¾" x 2 ⅜", binding is standard Soloist, rosewood with simple wood inlay as purfling. Its tone is very open and rich across its range, quite wonderful (I'm not biased.)
