Product Description
An interesting guitar from Rob Bustos, a skilled Canadian (Vancouver) builder with interesting design and super-high quality construction. It's based on the traditional Martin 12-fret dreadnaught, a model known for its prodigious bass response. Rob is a fan of 13 frets to-the-body; I believe he feels it puts the bridge in a better position, and he has also reduced the depth of the body from approximately 5" to 4 ½", a change that has always made sense to me. He's used gorgeous woods here, ziracote for the back & sides, Adirondack for the top and flame koa binding. There's also a koa bound soundport, another bass-enhancing detail, as well as giving the player an acoustic monitor speaker.
The tone of this guitar is enlightening in a way. It has a unique quality of openness; it feels refreshingly free and easy, with plenty of everything: bass is deep and clean and balances nicely with the higher response. It's a very pleasing sound, fun to play and hear.
