Product Description
A very beautiful and elaborate small-bodied guitar by Manuel Ramirez (1864-1916), one of the most important luthiers of guitar history. His Madrid shop trained a number of the finest Spanish luthiers. He is known for recognizing and continuing the revolutionary concept of Antonio de Torres, who is now known as the creator of the modern classical guitar. This is a modern instrument in an almost parlor size, possibly made as a lady's guitar. Back and sides are cypress with a center section of rosewood with an elaborate rosette of spruce, ebony and pearl. The bridge has a pearl tie block and pearl wing inlays. Condition is remarkable considering its 112 years of age, with just two repaired top splits and apparently all original elements. The tone is quite full and rich, especially considering the small size of the box. There is no signature on the top, so perhaps this guitar was made by the master himself.
